PROFESSIONALLY PACKAGED AND SHIPPED USING VALUE MAILERS' CARDBOARD LINERS AND RECORD MAILERS Charles Mingus [Prestige] Review by Stuart Kremsky Courtesy of ALLMUSIC.COM This Prestige two-fer combines two LPs recorded at New York's Cafe Bohemia in December 1955, originally known as Mingus at the Bohemia and Mingus Quintet Plus Max Roach. This is some of his most spirited live work, with a number of experiments in combining themes (e.g., "Septemberly" is a montage of "September" and "Tenderly".) It's an almost totally successful date, with Max Roach adding another dimension to the few tracks he's on.
